In Tehran, six Iranian scientists were killed in Israeli strikes, as reported by state media. Among the victims were prominent figures in Iran's nuclear program, including Dr. Fereydoon Abbasi-Davani, a former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and a former member of the Iranian parliament. Dr. Abbasi-Davani, who held a PhD in nuclear physics, had previously survived an assassination attempt in 2010. Other victims included Abdulhamid Minouchehr, a PhD holder in nuclear engineering and dean of the Faculty of Nuclear Engineering at Shahid Beheshti University; Ahmadreza Zolfaghari, a professor at the same department; Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, head of Iran’s Islamic Azad University in Tehran; Amir Hossein Faghihi, former vice president of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran; and Motallebzadeh, a nuclear scientist who was killed along with his wife. The building where these scientists resided sustained significant damage in the attacks.
